Description
A double-stranded DNA virus from the Asfarviridae family causing African swine fever, a hemorrhagic disease in pigs with near 100% mortality in acute cases. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, and internal bleeding. No vaccine exists, and it’s a major threat to global pork production, spread via ticks or direct contact.
