Description
Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) can cause illness that ranges from mild diarrhea to bloody diarrhea and life-threatening hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The most commonly identified is E. coli O157:H7, however there are many other strains of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli that cause illness in people, sometimes referred to as “non-O157 STEC.” SecureDx STEC/O157 Real-time PCR Kit is molecular diagnostics reagent for detection of Shiga toxin 1, 2 and serotype O157 with extracted DNA from clinical samples, food and water by real-time PCR assay.
